PARKSVILLE is a picturesque city with miles of sandy beach, making it one of the most popular tourist areas on Vancouver Island.  The warm sea waters of Parksville are great for swimming and provide a safe playground for young families.  There is plenty of acommodation space for visitors, including hotels, motels and RV campgrounds.  World renowned artists attract thousands, and fishermen come to Parksville for salt and fresh water catches.  Several islands just offshore offer plenty of fishing and diving.

QUALICUM BEACH is a quaint and unique coastal community that offers natural recreation, an enjoyable and relaxed lifestyle and a supportive community.  It boasts of its safe, sandy beaches.  There are six provincial parks wich provide canoeing, caving, hiking, swimming, fishing and beautiful natural attractions.  The five golf courses in the area offer breathtaking views of the ocean, mountains or both and challenge all golfers.

PARKSVILLE is located on the sheltered eastern shores of Vancouver Island, approximately 40 km. north of Nanaimo on Highway 19.  Qualicum Beach is approximately 11 km. further north on Highway 19. 

Like most areas of Vancouver Island, Parksville and Qualicum Beach enjoy a moderate climate year round.  Parksville and Qualicum's average hours of sunshire are 2,047 hours annually.  The coldest month is January with an average temperature of 4.7 C and the hottest month is July with an average temperature of 23.5 C.

The population of Parksville was estimated at 8,743 in 1995 and Qualicum Beach's 1995 population estimate was 6,276.  Vancouver Island is one of the fastest growing areas in Canada, and these areas are no exception!  Parksville has had an increase of 28.3% since 1991 and Qualicum Beach, an increase of 31%.  This is no surprise when you consider all the qualities they have to offer.
